Dario Otero and his business partners at Youth Lens 360 have created a unique curriculum geared towards training and supporting the technical and entrepreneurial skills of youth ages 14-24. He draws from his past experience as a special education teacher and transition specialist to not only encourage youth to set their goals high, but also to empower them to set actionable steps to achieve those goals.
If you could have a conversation with anyone - past or present - who would it be?
I would have a conversation with my great-grandfather who migrated from Jamaica to Canada in the early 1900s. He was an inventor and actually owned several patents. I know that is where my family inherited our entrepreneurial spirit and quest to be a pioneer, being the first to forge the path for self-sufficiency and family empowerment.
What personality trait or skill do you consider your greatest asset?
I am a motivator and a great listener that has the ability to see the strengths and positive characteristics in everyone. This has always served me well working with youth because sometimes they don't see their gifts and I love listening to their stories and helping them uncover the wonderful gifts they can offer into the world.
